AWARD RECIPIENTS

SEAoT regularly identifies individuals for several prestigious awards including the Anders Award, the SEAoT Service Award, the Wilbur C. Schoeller Award, and, new in 2022, the Young Member Service Award (Click here for information about these awards). The recipients of recent awards are listed here. 

 

Wilbur C. Schoeller Award Recipient – 2022

Thomas W. Taylor, P.E.

Thomas Taylor joined Frank Chappell & Associates, the predecessor firm of Datum, upon graduation from The University of Texas at Austin. Due to Mr. Chappell’s failing health, Mr. Taylor assumed leadership of the company and incorporated the firm as Datum Engineers. Since that time, under his leadership, Datum has grown into one of the most respected structural engineering firms in Texas. Some of Mr. Taylor’s many noteworthy projects include the Dallas Convention Center, the Irving Convention Center, Parkland Hospital, and One Atlantic Center. Mr. Taylor is known in the industry and professional circles as a design-oriented innovator, receiving numerous awards and honors. In addition to his professional work and accomplishments, Mr. Taylor is very active in civic affairs, volunteering for numerous boards and councils in the Dallas area.

 


 

SEAoT Young Member Service Award Recipient – 2022

Joseph Gerke, P.E.

Joseph is the Dallas Chapter’s Young Member Chair where he has fostered the growth and participation of younger members for the past couple of years. Joseph is a Structural Engineer in Dallas, Texas and has provided structural engineering services on a variety of projects involving wood, steel, and masonry. He has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Arkansas and a Master of Arts in Management from Dallas Baptist University.

SEAoT Membership

SEAoT membership is offered to corporations and individuals who are interested in the practice of structural engineering and its peripheral issues. SEAoT membership runs from January – December.

However, depending when you join, your membership for the first year will be prorated so that you only pay for the remainder of the year. (Those joining between October 1 and December 31, pay full membership which covers them up to the end of December of the year following the year in which they join.) There are a number of membership options.
