Guide for Writing a Nomination Letter for the Young Member Service Award
The Young Member Service Award is designed to recognize young members who demonstrate leadership, service, and contributions to SEAoT early in their careers.
This guide will help nominators write a comprehensive nomination letter that reflects the nominee’s qualifications and achievements.
Note: This guide is not a template or the format expected by SEAoT for nomination letters. It simply serves as a base for those who may need a starter. You are free to use your own style when writing a nomination letter.
1. Introduction: Identify the Nominee
Begin the letter by introducing the nominee, their contact information, and their age. Clearly state their eligibility as a young member based on their early career contributions to SEAoT.
- Example: “I am honored to nominate [Nominee’s Full Name], age [age], for the Young Member Service Award. As an active member of SEAoT, [Nominee’s Name] has made significant contributions to [student/local/state chapter].”
2. Highlight Noteworthy Contributions
Provide specific details about the nominee’s involvement and contributions to SEAoT. Highlight leadership roles they’ve taken on, successful projects they have led, or initiatives that have made a difference in the organization. Focus on early career achievements and how they align with SEAoT’s mission.
- Example: “[Nominee’s Name] has demonstrated outstanding leadership as [specific role], where they have contributed to [specific SEAoT project, initiative, or event]. Their involvement in [describe additional contributions] has significantly impacted the chapter and fostered growth within SEAoT.”
3. Show Leadership and Service
Describe the nominee’s leadership and service in SEAoT, focusing on their ability to lead by example, mentor others, or inspire engagement in the organization. Leadership could include roles such as chapter officer positions, committee chairing, or other service-oriented activities.
- Example: “[Nominee’s Name] has consistently demonstrated strong leadership through [specific leadership roles]. They have organized and led [describe event or project], which has inspired fellow members and enhanced SEAoT’s visibility and impact.”
4. Emphasize Professional Character and Ethics
Include examples that show the nominee’s professional character, ethics, and performance. This could be evidenced through how they interact with colleagues, their reliability, and how they’ve exemplified the core values of SEAoT. Personal stories of integrity and responsibility can strengthen this section.
- Example: “[Nominee’s Name] is known for their professionalism and ethical approach to every task. Their colleagues admire their commitment to the highest standards of integrity, as demonstrated in their work on [specific project or initiative].”
5. Conclusion: Reaffirm the Nominee’s Qualifications

- Example: “For these reasons, I strongly believe that [Nominee’s Name] is deserving of the Young Member Service Award. Their leadership, service, and dedication to SEAoT exemplify the values this award represents, and they are truly an outstanding early-career professional.”
