Join Us in Establishing New Professional and Student Chapters:

Exciting news! We’re embarking on a journey to create fresh chapters for the Structural Engineer’s Association of Texas in regions where our presence is currently absent. We’re seeking dedicated professionals like you to be part of this expansion initiative. As the field of structural engineering progresses, it’s vital for us to unite, exchange knowledge, and propel our profession forward. Through the formation of new chapters, our aim is to broaden our dynamic community, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and the exchange of cutting-edge ideas.

According to our Bylaws, we require a minimum of five structural engineers to launch a new professional chapter. Presently, SEAoT boasts chapters in Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio. Potential locations for new chapters span West Texas (including Lubbock, Amarillo, Midland, Abilene, etc.), South Texas (such as Laredo, McAllen, Brownsville, etc.), Central Texas (encompassing Killeen, Waco, etc.), and East Texas (covering Beaumont, Tyler, etc.).

Moreover, we’re eager to establish new student chapters. Currently, SEAoT chapters operate at UT Austin, UT El Paso, and Texas A&M. Ideal spots for new student chapters include UT Arlington, UT Austin, UT San Antonio, Texas Tech University, Baylor University, the University of Houston, Rice University, Texas State University, and more. Each university has specific prerequisites for initiating new student organizations, which may involve a minimum membership count, registration fees, and faculty supervision.

If you’re interested in spearheading this endeavor locally, please get in touch with our membership committee chairperson listed above. The state organization stands ready to assist in organizing new professional and student chapters by offering administrative backing, connecting individuals with similar goals, arranging speakers for meetings, and providing financial support to kickstart new chapters.
