Position: Technical Sales Specialist with CAST CONNEX

Compensation: Competitive base salary with commission and full benefits package

Location: Based in major city in Southeastern United States. Approximately 25% travel expected within United States and Canada.

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering, Architecture, or other technical field relevant to the AEC industry.

Minimum 10 years professional experience in engineering, architecture, construction, or related field (MS and PhD candidates are not held to this requirement).

For the position of Technical Sales Specialist, CAST CONNEX is seeking an exceptional candidate with proven outstanding technical capabilities; proven talent in verbal, visual, and written communication; an appreciation for optimization of performance and elegance in structure and architecture.

Candidate will have experience in presentations and/or teaching. Ideal candidate will have experience in presentations and/or teaching in engineering, science, or architecture.

Your Role:

  • You will be our leg in the Southeast, joining our US-based team.
  • You will be a maker-doer; both part of the development as well as the supply of steel castings.
  • You will collaborate with designers in early stages of projects and see them through to completion of construction documents.
  • You will support the construction team from tender to completion of construction.
  • You will have great responsibility and great respect as a valued member of our team.

Strong Pluses:

Advanced Degree in engineering, architecture, or similar
Professional Engineer Licensure and/or other relevant certification
Active member of Professional organizations within the AEC industry
Proven abilities in self-starting and self-management
Dexterity with US Building codes including: AISC 360, AISC 342, ASCE 7, AWS, IBC, AASHTO
Competency with 2D and 3D CAD and FEA platforms
Experience in steel fabrication and/or foundry work

Position Summary: 

The Structural Engineer (aka Branch Engineer) serves as a technical expert to our sales team and to our external customers, such as specifiers, building officials, and contractors in the Southeastern U.S. territory. Responsible for the development of presentations, technical literature content, and test programs intended to support sales, generate new products and services and to improve or maintain existing products or services. Overnight travel is required for workshops, ride-alongs, meetings and conferences. We are looking for an intelligent engineer, inquisitive by nature, capable of communicating clearly to laymen or specialists, adept at project management, and eager create products and tools to support our sales teams’ success.

Develop content for new literature publications such as Catalogs, Technical Bulletins, Fliers & Engineering Letters that will promote the benefits of our products and explain technical content. Check and review all technical literature prior to publication.

Create content for and conduct presentations (public speaking) discussing building code provisions, including practical design using Simpson products in front of customers like engineers, architects, builders, building officials, and our sales professionals.  Train Customer Technical Service and Inside Sales on new products and technical literature.

Provide technical assistance to customers and others through telephone conversations, e-mails, and written documentation.

Participate in the technical development of new and innovative products and product improvements for the construction industry front concept to sale, including idea generation, prototyping, testing, and calculations

Travel with sales professionals to develop personal relationships with them and our customers, assist with technical support, give presentations, conduct job site calls, research/report new products/applications, and observe product installations – including after natural disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes. Our branch territory includes all or portions of 16 southeastern US states, the Caribbean, Central and South America.

Practical working knowledge of common light-framed wood construction and concrete construction and associated design methodologies a must. Additional familiarity with masonry, steel (hot-rolled and CFS), FRP, and CLT construction and design methods a plus.

General knowledge of Connectors and Lateral System product lines (Anchors, Fasteners and Repair Systems is a plus). General understanding of product development process from idea to launch a plus.

Position: Engineer by Martin/Martin

Martin/Martin is interested in hiring an Engineer to join our Existing Building Services Group in our Lakewood, Colorado office. The successful candidate will primarily work with our Building Envelope team having a wide array of responsibilities including: site observations of existing wall systems, evaluating wall/roof performance, thermal analysis and generating designs. Working with the building envelope team, the candidate will develop a high level of understanding of current industry standards and work to develop improved solutions in the rapidly changing building envelope field. The position will involve ten to twenty hours per week on project sites performing observations, documenting construction and performing testing. The position involves direct communication with owners, property managers and contractors along with marketing and business development activities.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of engineers, architects, and technicians working to solve water intrusion issues on existing buildings and to develop unique building envelope solutions. Project types will range from small residential to large commercial and institutional buildings. Our projects are predominately in the Rocky Mountain Region, but with opportunities to work throughout the United States.

SEAoT Membership

SEAoT membership is offered to corporations and individuals who are interested in the practice of structural engineering and its peripheral issues. SEAoT membership runs from January – December.

However, depending when you join, your membership for the first year will be prorated so that you only pay for the remainder of the year. (Those joining between October 1 and December 31, pay full membership which covers them up to the end of December of the year following the year in which they join.) There are a number of membership options.
