Ground Improvement

Presented by:

Mr. Roy Doumet

Bio:

Roy Doumet is a Project Manager at Keller North America, Inc., formerly Hayward Baker, Inc.. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a master’s degree in civil engineering, specializing in geotechnical engineering under the tutelage of Professor Gerald Miller. Currently, Roy is pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of Texas in Arlington, focusing on swell potential evaluation in expansive clays.  Mr. Doumet is a highly knowledgeable specialist in ground improvement and treatment of expansive clays. He has worked on projects in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and California, with a focus on ground improvement, earth retention and deep foundation solutions.

Presentation Description:

Ground improvement is the practice of enhancing the engineering properties of existing soil or fill material by increasing bearing capacity, reducing settlement, and mitigate liquefaction.  As an alternative or supplement to deep foundations, these techniques can reduce project cost, expedite schedule, and provide other construction benefits.  In this presentation you will learn about different techniques, where they are applicable, and what to expect from a quality contractor.  The ability to find value through innovation without compromise wherever possible provides engineers with a distinct advantage in today’s market.
